Experience the Joy of Spiritual Dancing
23rd and 24th September 2023
A Non-Residential Gathering at Brigsteer, Near Kendal
“We should realise in a vivid and revolutionary way that we are not in our bodies but our bodies are in us. We create and control them, we use them to the ends of health and joy and vision.” Ruth St Denis
Life itself and how we live it is our real spiritual practice. Like the unceasing, flowing waters of St Helen’s Well, pictured above, the wellspring of life is ever living, ever flowing and yet eternal. We don’t have to go anywhere to be “more” spiritual but perhaps we do need to remind ourselves of our innate spiritual reality. Once we begin to remember that Life is continuously flowing to us, through us and as us, our sense of the whole game of life changes.
Each moment our lives is filled with opportunities and challenges that are the grist for the mill of spiritual awakening. Perhaps we may be drawn to things like meditation, yoga, Buddhism, Sufism or one of the many other paths of unfoldment. Many find that the journey of spiritual awakening is life’s greatest and most rewarding adventure, especially when we share the joy of this journey with others who are drawn to similar methods of unfoldment.
Our form of dancing offers a unique method to touch the deeper aspects of our being. Through spiritual dancing our rhythms of heart, of breath, of mind and body can be gently eased back into the natural state of state of health and harmony. Together, actively and collaboratively, we can experience and manifest our true spiritual reality.
If you are new and considering coming along you will receive a warm welcome. It is not necessary to have had any experience of this type of dancing – sometimes called Dances of Universal Peace. Mostly we dance and sing as we move together in a circle. The chants are based on sacred phrases from various spiritual traditions. The dances are simple and accessible as well as profound and deep. They are clearly taught and easily learned.
Additionally during this workshop there may be short periods sitting together in the silence to help us to integrate and embody the effects of the practices.
The weekend is non-residential and will take place at Brigsteer Village Hall in a delightful room with a beautiful wooden floor. It is a spacious and clear, ecological venue in a tranquil setting with plenty of space for parking and is only a short drive from Kendal.
The hall has plenty of chairs. Bring along mats and blankets for relaxing in the breaks and also cushions for the sitting meditations if you wish.
For those travelling some distance a limited amount of accommodation may be available in the village with more in Kendal itself. Brigsteer is less than four miles and only a ten-minute drive from Kendal.
Please help our dance circles to thrive. Do pass on the details of this event to friend who could be interested in joining us.
